HARMONIZING OUR ATTITUDES WITH SIMPLE FINGER HOLDS

In the last newsletter we discussed how simply holding a finger in harmony with our breath we can help ourselves to balance and harmonize the 5 attitudes: Worry, Fear, Anger, Sadness and Trying to. For relief of acute conditions this is all that is often needed. However if these attitudes become hardened we can use more than one finger to assist in the harmonizing.

So a simple way to harmonize a condition of chronic Worry is to first hold your thumbs then your middle fingers, followed by your little fingers (left then right, or vice versa), until you feel a pulse in each (or hold for 2 minutes if pulse is not detected). To maximize the result, exhale, drop your shoulders, smile and naturally inhale as you hold each digit. Many people do multiples of 9 exhalations and inhalations, up to 36 times per thumb.
